CAMBORNE have slipped into serious trouble after they were beaten by six wickets by Menheniot at Roskear. The visitors gathered 19 points to Camborne's three.

This was a fifth league win for Menheniot who move into the top half of the table.

Camborne, from 11 starts, have seven draws and four defeats with a modest 74 points return.

Put in, Camborne started with a 36-run partnership in 34 minutes, most of them going to Marc Sweeney, who stroked six fours in his partnership with Kevin Roberts.

Pace bowler Herbery split the openers, but Roberts, joined by Andy Gill, then added 31. Roberts, who hit two fours in his patient 13, was the first of four deserved wickets for Lloyd Sluman. Gill was next to go, lbw to Sluman at 67-3.

Danny Mitchell was another lbw victim for Sluman at 72-4 and when Seb Phelps was caught off Slumann Camborne were 75 for the loss of 5 wickets.

The pressure was on Camborne skipper Peter Davey who dug in, hitting a six and a four in his 34 runs score, he strove to keep the Camborne lower order. The deceptive bowling of Hugh Rogers tormented the home lower order players, helped by two stumpings and a catch by wicket-keeper Andrew Keeble.

Camborne were all out for a modest 118 from 57.4 overs. The innings lasted three hours and 43 minutes.

In reply the visitors lost Dave Lee who was very unlucky to be run out, his partner not responding to a call, a good return seeing the departure of Lee for 2. The other opener, Phil Goldsmith, was out for a single at 7-2.

In the next 29 overs Andy Tunnadine and Simon Hunt took complete control to add 74 runs.

The return of Berryman plus a late introduction for Nigel Dunstan brought two wickets, Hunt out for 62 with two sixes and four fours in 84 minutes. His 50 came in an hour.

Hugh Rogers was lbw to Dunstan's first delivery from the pavilion end at 104-4 and gave Camborne some hope.

The visitors survived a couple of close calls, but were well deserved winners by six wickets.

Berryman's figures were 14.5-6-37-1, spinner Johnson's 13 overs cost 41 runs, with Gill's ten overs costing 34 runs.
