THE deputy head of Redruth School faced a further charge of indecent assault against another under age girl when he appeared before magistrates last week.

Anthony Thomas Williams, also known as Andy Williams, was charged with the new offence on June 12 and appeared at West Cornwall Magistrates' court last Thursday.

The teacher, who lives in Sithney, near Helston, already faces five charges of indecently assaulting a girl under 16, one charge of inciting a child to commit gross indecency and one that he committed gross indecency on a child.

Williams is due to appear before Truro Crown Court on these charges on July 12 for a plea and directions hearing.

Williams, who withheld his plea, will remain on unconditional bail until he returnsto West Cornwall Magistrates Court on July 10 for committal proceedings to take place.

It is alleged the assault took place between September 1971 and July 1976 and it is hoped it can be heard at the Crown Court along side the seven other charges Williams already faces.

The 57-year-old has been suspended from Redruth School until the case is resolved. He has worked at the school for 36 years.
