POLICE and carnival organisers in Ilminster have appealed to parents to keep children under control - and avoid a repeat of an incident which left a ten year old boy with a broken leg.
The boy needed hospital treatment after falling under the wheels of a float at Wellington carnival on September 28.
Jeremy Gapper, chairman of Ilminster Carnival said the incident was rare but advised carnival goers to observe marshal's instructions and keep children under control.
Avon and Somerset Police's carnival liaison officer Adrian Gridley said; "Responsible adults should set an example to children, ensuring they keep well back from the kerb and moving vehicles."
