A SPECIAL concert is to be held at the Green Lawns Hotel, Falmouth, in memory of the late Ian Matheson, affectionately known as Cornwall's "Mr Jazz", who died in December of last year.

The concert on Thursday, October 24, will feature the 11-piece jazz orchestra, Harlem , considered one of the finest of its kind in Europe, and led by trombonist, Paul Munnery. It will be a fitting tribute to a man that was passionate about jazz music and who was responsible for bringing scores of top quality jazz concerts to Garras Jazz at Falmouth which he founded over 20 years ago. Ian was also involved in the early years of the now established Bude Jazz Festival and visited there every year until his illness meant he was unable to do so.

The concert, starting at 8pm until around 11.30pm, will feature music of the great Big Band era of the 1920's and 1930's of Harlem in New York.
