The final of the Summer League was played tonight at St Newlyn Village Hall with Western Area champions Helston taking on the Eastern Area champions Lostwithiel.
The match was a closely contested affair with never more that five shots separating the teams. It was Lostwithiel who took an early advantage going 5-0 up after two ends, but Helston fought back to level the score at 5-5 by the fourth end.
Helston then moved into a four shot lead by the seventh end, but Lostwithiel fought back to win seven of the next 11 ends to make the scores level with three ends to play at 13-13. Helston scored two shots on the 19th end only for Lostwithiel to again equal the score on the 20th end.
The last end was closely fought with Helston eventually picking up one shot to win the match. The final score being Lostwithiel 15-16 Helston.

SEVENTEEN teams took part in the County Fours competition at Fowey Leisure Centre on Sunday and with a lower than usual entry it gave the chance for the runners-up in the groups to also qualify for the final stages of the competition.
This resulted in many qualifiers not being known until the final round of games were completed.
The qualifiers were - D Dawe, P Thomas, M Barbery and D Newton (Dobwalls) 4 pts +12 shots; F Grose (Treviscoe), T Jago (Treviscoe), J Watson (St Steven) and B Wakeley (Treviscoe) 4 pts +3 shots; B Sharp, D Hamblin, B Sleep and J Roper (Dobwalls) 5 pts +13 shots; T Truscott, N Truscott, C Matthews and T Matthews (St Newlyn East) 4 pts +13 shots; C Moore, J Ward, K Horell and N Ward (Withiel) 6 pts +14 shots; R Watson, K Watson, A Rathbone, P Spencer (St Minver) 3 pts +1 shot; Y Griffin, C Briese, D Griffin and A Hambley (Lostwithiel) 4 pts +6 shots; R Christophers, K Banfield, S Brown and P Tripp (Helston) 4 pts +2 shots.
