THE One and All Sports Mining Division Football League is gaining itself the unenviable record of having to endure what appears to be a never-ending annual meeting.

Wednesday night's epic lasted until almost 10.45 pm with the constitution of the league taking up a large proportion of themeeting's time.

Despite the league having promotion and relegation, there were, in fact, no clubs relegated with several applying to drop down divisions instead.

As a result Madron, Robartes Arms, and Troon (if they accept) are to be promoted to division one from division two and in division three five clubs were promoted to division two, Storm, Newlyn Non Athletico, Camborne SoM, Mousehole III, and Halsetown Res.

Trispen, Holmans III, and Ludgvan III withdrew from the league, Spice of Life asked to be relegated to division three and Trispen Res remained in division two which meant that the four new applicants, Madron Res, Marazion III, Storm Res, and Wendron United IV, were all admitted.

The league's officers all stood for re-election except secretary Mr Terry Grasty, in his detailed report, told the league that he was relinquishing his post on health grounds. The position was not filled at the meeting.

The league's sponsors, Tim and Jerry Penna of One and All Sports, were welcomed to the meeting and handed out the prizes for the winning sides of last season which included a set of shirts for all three league winners and a match ball and their trophies for the runners-up.

Treasurer and registration secretary Mr Chris Coombes said the league was financially sound and 1,510 players had been registered and 39 transfers carried out.

The referees' appointments officer (west), Mr Alan Wallace, said he attended the county referees' annual meeting and the feeling coming from that group was that referees may decline appointments to clubs without proper changing facilities.

The proposals for joining the feeder league system were also accepted by the clubs.

The Jack Taylor President's Shield memorial match will be played as usual, but the management committee will discuss the arrangements.

No managers were selected for the various divisional sides, but the management committee will also work on that.

The season will open on Saturday, August 16, and finish on Saturday, May 31.
