GREEN-FINGERED Porlock gardeners scoured their plots for plants to enter in their spring show this weekend.
Despite winter conditions, they managed to find sufficient entries to ensure Porlock Vale Horticultural Association's spring show when ahead after all.
Secretary Shirley Butler said: "It had been feared there would not be sufficient entries to make a show.
"But members scoured their gardens for anything that showed a hint of colour that could be forced into bloom for the show benches.
"Although fewer in number, virtually every class had entries."
She said while individual children's handcraft classes were disappointing, with just two entries, there were three classes from children at St Dubricius First School, who entered paintings, puppets and paper flowers.
See today's County Gazette for full list of show results.
