BUSINESSES in South Somerset are being invited to find out how to make more money simply by reducing waste.
The free event, to be held on Tuesday, March 23, at Yeovil Town Football Club, will give businesses the chance to meet local recycling contractors, Somerset Waste Partnership and other experts with real examples of how others have saved money even in a recession by cutting down on waste.
South Somerset Together (SST), the Local Strategic Partnership and Somerset Waste Partnership are hosting the event with support from South Somerset District Council, the Environment Agency and Business Link.
Paull Robathan, chair of SST and member of the Somerset Waste Board, said: “It’s important that we give our local businesses the opportunity to see, with real examples, how they can go about reducing waste and benefiting financially from the changes they make.
“Together, we are able to offer this free event to get everyone talking and discussing ideas with businesses that have already made it work.”
Key speaker Dr Simon Forsythe, an expert in cost-carbon saving, will join a range of organisations to give information and advice that could help improve productivity and profitability.
The event, which includes a free buffet, will run from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
