A CYCLIST has suffered serious head injuries after colliding with a van on Wylds Road in Bridgwater this morning.

Police were called out just before 7am to reports of the incident outside Rivers House, which involved a man believed to be around 40, and a Fiat van.

The cyclist was transferred to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol after an initial scan at Musgrove Park Hospital. Police say he has suffered serious head injuries.

The Bristol Road end of Wylds Road has now been reopened following the collision.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to call them on 0845-456-7000.

Shame this has happened, hopefully the cyclist had the good sense to wear a helmet. Far too many people on bikes think that its OK to ride with no helmet.
