Acorns children bury time capsule

YOUNGSTERS in Taunton’s Halcon area help builders bury a time capsule at the Acorns Children’s Centre, which is undergoing an extension and refurbishment.

The building will become a multi-agency centre with a range of facilities for young people and their families, including a police post, NHS services, treatment rooms and a sensory room.

The project is being funded by Somerset County Council.

Items in the time capsule included photos, creative work, messages and letters.

Simon Briggs, capital strategy area manager for Somerset County Council Children and Young People's Directorate, said: “We’re delighted to see work well underway with our contractor, ISG Pearce, because enhancement of the Acorns Children's Centre should bring many benefits to this community and we look forward to unveiling this exciting new amenity later in 2010.”
