SWIMMERS in Taunton are being invited to make a splash for charity in April as part of the Marie Curie Cancer Care Swimathon 2010 challenge.
The event takes place at Taunton Pool on April 17 and last year raised £7,632 locally.
Tone Leisure, which runs the pool, is offering the chance to win a free month’s membership to anyone who signs up before February 28.
Training plans and advice will be available from the pool and specialist sessions will take place to give swimmers help and advice on the best ways to prepare for their swim.
Pool duty manager Ruth Edwards said: “It’s going to be fantastic to see everybody in our community taking part and fundraising for Marie Curie Cancer Care to enable terminally ill patients to have the best possible end of life care.
“Last year we raised the most out of all the pools in the West. It would be great if we could raise even more this year!”
Celebrity swimmer Duncan Goodhew added: “Swimathon is incredibly exciting. It enables normal people to do extraordinary things. Everyone’s challenge is very much their own - but not only do their efforts benefit themselves, they benefit their country and the charities.”
