THE annual festive ‘Give a Kid a Quid’ campaign in support of the Echo Trust will run at Chicago Rock Cafe in Yeovil.
The campaign will run from December 4-31 and the idea is that staff will simply ask customers to donate £1 as they pass through the doors.
To add to this wonderful event chef Jamie Oliver has given his support to the appeal by appearing on the charity posters to encourage those all important donations.
The Echo Trust was created in 2002 by Luminar Leisure and received registered charity status by 2003. Luminar is the biggest provider of late night entertainment in the country and parent company to a number of brands including Oceana, Life, Liquid and Lava Ignite.
The 3D Entertainment Group who own and operate Chicago Rock Cafe and Jumpin Jaks brands began its support of the Echo Trust in 2007.
The trust collects donations from venues traded by both companies and redistributes it to children’s charities which need it the most.
Over the years Echo has given thousands to children’s health projects and hospitals across the UK including Wallace & Gromit Appeal in Bristol, The Marc Anthony Memorial Fund in Plymouth, Nottingham University Hospital in Nottingham, Chums in Bedfordshire, Help a Local Child, Preston, The Sunshine Fund, Newcastle upon Tyne, Waverley Care, Edinburgh, The Wessex Autistic Society, near Bournemouth and many many more. Echo’s main priority is to fund essential medical equipment for sick children.
Full details of all previous grant recipients together with all the information about the charity and celebrities who have supported the ‘Give a Kid a Quid’ campaign in the past can be found at www.echotrust.org.
Echo Trust Manager, Maxine Smith, commented: “Give a Kid a Quid is a fantastic fundraising campaign for Echo and having Jamie Oliver on board with his endorsement really does inspire our venues to come up with wonderful fundraising ideas to generate lots of donations.
"We are so grateful for Jamie’s backing and judging by the excitement amongst the venues, they are just as thrilled."
Linda Bowler, general manager of Chicago Rock Cafe, Yeovil, added: “I am delighted to be able to support Echo this Christmas.
"The festive collection is always important especially this year with Jamie Oliver’s support.
"We will definitely be pulling out all the stops to ensure all our customers have a great time, experience the best possible entertainment we can offer and if they want to make a difference to sick children, they can make a charity donation, all on the same night!”
