THE West Somerset village of Porlock has just missed out on the national Communications title in this year’s Calor Village of the Year competition.
The final results of the competition have now been announced, and although Porlock put up a good fight and proved that they were a real contender, it is Great Bardfield in Essex that has gained the national Communications award for England.
Calor Village of the Year manager, Holly Sims said: “This was a really close competition – all of the regional Communications winners are great communities and our judging team had a difficult task in selecting the overall category winner.
“Porlock should be very proud of its success in the competition as winning a regional category is no mean feat.
“I’m sure villagers are disappointed not to be our overall winner for Communications, but their achievements in the competition – at both county and regional level – have been great and they deserve warm congratulations.”
Calor Village of the Year judges marked villages across four key areas: Community – a better place to live, Business – a better place to work, Sustainability – a better future, and Communications – being in contact.
