BURNHAM model girl Poppy Rivers frequently appears in some of the top UK lads’ magazines and has achieved her ultimate goal, a regular slot on page three of The Sun newspaper.
Today Poppy’s story reaches its conclusion with the final instalment of the Weekly News’ exclusive three-part series featuring Burnham’s very own glamour girl.
POPPY, 19, has been a page three model for little more than a year, and in her own words “absolutely loves it”.
With strong support from friends and family, Poppy has managed to overcome a difficult time at school to send her career into the stratosphere.
She tells the Weekly News today: “My parents are very proud and supportive of me, without them I would not have been able to manage all that I have so far.
“They have supported me both financially and emotionally. I can't begin to explain how much their help has meant to me.”
As her life began to change Poppy would regularly come across celebrities in London nightclubs, in the past, she would only see on the TV or in newspapers.
“I met Russell Brand at a London nightclub last Christmas very briefly, and I was invited to Jason Statham's birthday party a few months ago”, she added.
“I also met John McCririck earlier this year when I went to the races with some other page three girls.
“I'm not really into the whole club scene though. I'd much rather go to a bar, where I can hear people talk. I'm a bit old before my time!”
Despite becoming a familiar face to thousands of adoring fans, Poppy insists she is still very much a down-to-earth girl from Burnham.
She added: “I'm still not used to seeing myself in the paper and magazines, it's very surreal. I am quite critical about my pictures, which can be quite annoying sometimes. “I have had a lot of support from fans, which is lovely - I never imagined I'd have fans!”
Poppy, who has recently re-launched her own website, has some wise words of advice for other girls wishing to pursue a career in modelling – be prepared to work hard and take the knock backs.
“It's not all glamour,” she went on. “There's a lot of hard work involved and a lot of criticism too - my skin is so much thicker than it was before I started modelling.
“So many girls say they want to model, but you have to really want it and be prepared to work for what you want.
“It's such a competitive industry to be in, lots of girls all fighting for the same job, but having said that, there's still nothing else I would rather be doing.
“I'd like to thank my family, my parents, but mostly my Dad, who has always done all he can to help make my dream come true.”
