MONKS Yard in Horton opened its doors to MY Workplace on Friday as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week – a worldwide enterprise scheme designed to turn talent into money.

Around 60 business owners and entrepreneurs gathered at Monks Yard to hear from companies and directors already using the facilities there, as well as a history and business profile from MY Manager Dean Holling.

“We are looking to support local people and local businesses,” said Dean.

“MY Workplace offers home-based entrepreneurs the opportunity to work in an office environment, whether that’s for meetings, peace and quiet or to enjoy the workplace atmosphere.”

Boasting the latest in technology, the Workplace has digital projectors, VOIP phones, Wi-Fi and fully catered facilities for anything from a small group meeting in a private room to a full business conference.

There is no joining fee and a minimum commitment of three months, with tariffs starting at £10 per month.

Entrepreneurship Week first started in the UK in 2004 and has since expanded to a global level with 77 countries around the world taking part.

Last year there were 24,966 events that were attended by 3.06m people – 644,000 of which were in the UK.

The campaign is run by Enterprise UK, which was founded by the British Chambers of Commerce, the CBI, the Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Directors. Their Director Generals sit on Enterprise UK's board, which is chaired by entrepreneur Peter Jones.
