WELL-KNOWN Big Issue seller Colin Johnstone has thanked everyone who has supported him since he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Colin, 62, was given the tragic news last week by doctors at Burnham War Memorial Hospital and admits he is “scared stiff”.
He is one of the most familiar faces around the streets of Burnham and Highbridge, regularly selling the magazine for the homeless, and recently completed 50 two-hour poppy selling sessions.
He said: “I would like to thank all the people who have supported me and stopped off and bought the Big Issue or a poppy from me over the years when I've been out there.
“This is really bad news and I am scared stiff.”
Colin, who lives in Southwell Crescent, admits his Big Issue selling days are drawing to an end as he awaits further medical treatment.
He added: “I am going to consider all the alternatives and it looks like I will have to move into a bungalow as I will eventually need a wheelchair.
“In the meantime though I am going to carry on selling until I am no longer able to.”
