A KIDNAPPING has left residents at a Chard care home shocked and wondering who will help Father Christmas deliver the Christmas presents this year.

Oak Lodge Care Home had recently welcomed a new resident – a reindeer purchased by Val Cox for the purpose of naming him and training him to accompany Santa on Christmas Day.

But last week came the shock announcement that the reindeer had been kidnapped and was being held for ransom.

“No price has been named as yet,” said Val.

“But can anyone tell me the going rate to get a reindeer back from the clutches of this totally ruthless and cold-hearted person?

“Better still would be donations to get him back. The donations would be for our residents’ fund and possibly to buy a few oats for the reindeer.”

Oak Lodge are currently planning a variety of festive activities including a Country and Western afternoon on November 18, a Christmas fayre on December 4, from 10.30am until noon and much more.

Val added: “But first we have to rescue our reindeer, name him and give him his Christmas oats.

“Come on you lovely people out there in Chard, you cannot leave him in the clutches of this wicked person – it is up to you all to help me get him back!”

All donations can be given to Val Cox, Oak Lodge Care Home, Lordleaze Lane, Chard.
