A BEST-SELLING book by a Chard author about her family's life in Uplyme, Devon, is helping to keep the rotor blades turning on the Air Ambulance.
Gill Wickens, of Bews Lane, only wrote 'Uplyme Born and Bred' for her friends and relatives, but it proved so popular that locals were queuing up to buy it at £5 a time.
The book, which features some wonderful old photos of the village and local residents in bygone years, quickly sold out and had to be reprinted.
Gill has chosen to donate the £250 profit from her work to the Devon Air Ambulance and recently presented a cheque to DAA representative Mike Saffin.
