CHARD School have exemplified the town's charitable spirit, say organisers of Operation Christmas Child after receiving 96 shoeboxes of gifts for less fortunate children.
On Thursday charity organisers Peter and Pam Pike visited the school to collect the shoeboxes from pupils and teacher Penny Medland who organised the collection.
“These boxes will probably go to either Romania or Serbia,” said Pam Pike.
“We are still doing very well in spite of the credit crunch - people are still as generous and committed as ever and there's a great example of that from this school.”
Anyone wishing to donate a shoebox can visit the drop-off points at The Welcome Bap Coffee Shop in Chard and the Minster Rooms and McKinlay's in Ilminster from now until November 18.
