DIAMOND couple Norman and Doris Cole say that a little give and take is the answer when it comes to marriage as they celebrate 60 years together this month.

Norman, 79, and Doris, 81, were married in Barnstaple on November 8, 1949, after they met dancing the foxtrot in a Devon hotel.

Having worked as a shepherd for nearly 40 years, Norman moved to work at Powrmatic until he retired in 1994. He was church warden at Kingstone Church for many years and still enjoys hunting, horse racing, darts and, of course, dancing!

Doris was the secretary for Dowlish Wake WI from 1960 to 1980 and often travelled to London to represent her branch at the Royal Albert Hall. She was leader of Kingstone Church Mother’s Union for 18 years and enjoys accompanying her husband horse racing and dancing.

Family is very important to Doris and Norman who have three children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will be joining other family and friends at a carvery for 90 people at the Windwhistle Inn later this month.
