CHARD business is getting another boost as fashion and homewares retailer Store Twenty One will open its doors at the former Woolworth’s premises in less than two weeks.

Offering fashionable family clothing as well as items including lamps, cushions and vases for the home, the company aims to mirror the success of budget retailers such as Primark and Matalan.

In July the News revealed that QS was considering moving its Fore Street store to bigger premises across the road.

Now the retail chain has released a statement saying it will be open for business on Wednesday, September 11, creating up to nine new part-time jobs.

Reaction to the move has been positive from both businesses and residents.

Chairman of Chard Chamber of Commerce, Graham Barnes, described the move as ‘good news’ that ‘will hopefully attract more shoppers’.

On the News’ website, taggy2oo from Chard said: “Great news, it has made the town look bad with so many empty shops around.

“Let’s hope it encourages more people to go back to shopping locally again and boost the confidence of the traders and shoppers.”

One of the UK’s fastest growing retailers, Store Twenty One is the new face of QS has opened over 50 branches nationwide since 2006.
