Campaign aimed at Bridgwater's 'unhappy' areas

PARTS of Bridgwater blighted by antisocial behaviour and crime will be targeted in a housing association's huge door-knocking campaign.

Homes in Sedgemoor, which manages hundreds of homes across the district, is launching its 'Out and About' drive to see how tenants feel about the organisation and its services.

The campaign is targeting areas where tenants say they are least happy - including West Street and the Sydenham and Hamp estates in Bridgwater.

A study carried out by the organisation over the last year revealed that many tenants living in urban areas of Sedgemoor were dissatisfied while those in rural parts were largely content.

The survey asked respondents to rate how big a problem were things like noisy neighbours, disruptive children or teenagers, racial or other harassment, drunk or rowdy behaviour, drug use or dealing and other crime.

It went on to ask how well people think Homes in Sedgemoor deals with the issues.

Staff will be 'out and about' knocking on tenants' doors in West Street on July 27 followed by Sydenham on August 3 and 11 and Hamp on August 20 between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.

A team of about 20 members of staff will be asking a series of questions and asking for residents' views and experiences.

Gary Orr, chief executive of Homes in Sedgemoor said: “The Out and About campaign is a huge development and will help all of us to learn more about our customers and the communities we work with.

“The information we collect will be used to support the continuing improvements here and we hope will increase the levels of satisfaction among customers.”
