THE 22nd annual Somerton Summer Arts Festival kicks-off today with a great line-up of events.
After a resounding success at last year's festival, youth band DWEEB will be performing in the skittle alley at the Unicorn Hotel from 7.30pm.
The band has a mixture of musical influences from the likes of Incubus to Miles Davis and from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Steve Reich.
Their sound is energetic rock music with a twist of jazzy funk.
The support band will be BOSH who, after two years honing the songs on the road, went into the studio and emerged with their Sound the Alarms album in April 2008.
Tickets for the gig featuring DWEEB and BOSH are priced at £4.
* THE Parish Rooms in Somerton will be the setting of MY DARLING CLEMMIE - the remarkable, moving and entertaining story of the woman who married one of the truly great figures of the 20th century - Sir Winston Churchill.
The play, written by Hugh Whitemore and performed by Rohan McCullough, will start at 8pm and tickets are priced £6.
* THE FIREBIRDS, plus support band SAX AND THE CITY CHIC, will be the first to play in the Festival Marquee at the Somerton Sports Club from 8pm.
The Firebirds are one of Europe's finest rock and roll bands who performed at the opening of the Euro Disney Theme Park in Paris in 1992.
Sax and the City Chic are a dynamic duo of Sam and Laura who will get people up on their feet dancing to classic 60s music with a twist.
Tickets are priced £12.
* A FLOWER FESTIVAL will be held by members of the Somerton United Reformed Church. Entry is free and is open to the public from 10am to 5pm.
