Woolworths gets new display

WOOLWORTHS in Chard has a new display in its windows as paintings from local primary schools have brightened up the empty shop for Chard in Bloom.

Pupils created the paintings as part of a competition for Chard in Bloom using the theme of ‘dig it, grow it, cook it, eat it’, and owners of the former store, Dunns Motors Ltd, say they are more than happy for the children’s artwork to go on display there.

Chard-based window cleaners Jay and Son have agreed to clean the windows of the shop that has stood empty for more than six months.

Speculation is still mounting about possibilities of companies moving into the old Woolworth’s building, with suggestions including QS and Iceland.
