STAFF and students at a Bridgwater school are coming to terms with the shock sudden death of a popular teacher.
Andrew Holmes (pictured), head of creative arts at East Bridgwater Community School, is understood to have suffered a heart attack last Wednesday.
Head of school Sue Hearle said: “The news has come as a great shock to the school community but both staff and students are determined to use the last few weeks of term to consider ways in which we can remember Mr Holmes.
“A book of condolence has been established and we intend to dedicate our arts week at the end of term to Mr Holmes memory.
“Mr Holmes has been a member of staff at East Bridgwater for 12 years and in that time he played a major contribution in the school gaining its specialist school status.
“Mr Holmes will be remembered for his unique sense of humour, always well demonstrated at the school’s Christmas pantomime productions, but most particularly for his encouragement to students to believe in the power of performance. Our thoughts are with Mr Holmes’ son at this sad time.”
