A BRAVE 13-year-old South Somerset schoolgirl is to see her wish come true when she is given a ride in a hot air balloon – thanks to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Yasmin Brookes was diagnosed with leukaemia in September 2004 when she was aged just ten and has endured long stays in Yeovil District Hospital where she has missed out on hobbies including playing football and a whole year off of school.
Now the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children, has granted her wish and organised a special balloon flight for her as a surprise.
Yasmin, along with her dad Gary and best friend Elliot, will be joined by Yeovil Town FC player-manager Terry Skiverton.
Football-mad Yasmin has always been a huge fan of the Glovers and used to enjoy going to support them at games before she became ill.
Yasmin, who goes to Ansford community school, Castle Cary, completed her chemotherapy in January 2007 and is now well on the road to recovery.
