POLICE in Dorchester are renewing their appeal for public help as they become increasingly concerned for the welfare of a man who has gone missing from his home in the town – with the family also issuing a statement and releasing new pictures.
Thomas Walker Mitchell, who is 27 years old, went missing from his home on Bridport Road in Dorchester just after 1am on Monday, June 8, and family members are concerned that he may come to some harm.
He left home driving a silver Ford Fiesta motor car, registered number P354XDW, after a family disagreement. He has no bank cards with him.
Officers believe that Thomas may now be anywhere across the country – with North Wales being one possibility. Thomas used to live in Llandudno in 2004.
His mother, who does not wish to be identified, said: "Tom, we're waiting anxiously to hear some news about you. Please call, text or e-mail so that we know you're ok.
"It's not too late, now or in the days ahead, to contact or come back to us – whatever your thoughts and feeling about things that have happened in the last few weeks and the problems that you've been going through.
"Your family and friends are all alarmed about your disappearance and worried about you. We know that you have loved and supported family members at times of trouble in the past, so now let us help you to cope with the difficulties in your life."
Tom is about five feet nine inches tall and of slim build, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a 'Kangaroo Poo' blue hooded top with draw strings, blue jeans and brown suede shoes.
Tom has a five-year-old son called Joe.
His mother added: "Joe doesn't know what's happening, but he's asking for you and we don't know what to say. He knows it's your birthday this week. It would help so much if he could hear from you in the next few days.
"He needs you around – now and in the future. We know you love him and must be missing him too."
Police Constable Sam Goom, of Dorchester police station, said: "It's essential that we find Thomas as soon as possible and his family have released new pictures in the hope that anyone who has seen him will contact the police urgently.
"I'd also like to hear from anyone who knows of his whereabouts or who knows where his car may be found.
"It's clear that Thomas' family are very worried about him and I would ask Thomas to please contact us so that we can be sure that he is safe and well."
Thomas or anybody with information about his whereabouts should contact Dorset Media Relations Department on 01202 or 01305 223893.
