A WAR veteran from Burnham on a weight-loss mission is hoping to add extra incentive by raising money for the poppy appeal.
Royal British Legion member Phillip Mills has already lost 53 pounds, equivalent to nearly four stone, but still has another 28 pounds to lose to reach his target weight of 13.5 stone.
Phillip, who served in the 1st Battalion Devonshire and Dorset regiment, had been struggling to shed the stones until a friend suggested he seek sponsorship in aid of the Legion's poppy appeal.
As a caseworker, Phillip says he knows how important it is to raise money for the charity which supports thousands of ex-servicemen and their families every year.
Now Phillip hopes to attract extra sponsorship for his cause to spur him on to his goal and lose the weight by October 31 this year.
To help, drop in to the Royal British Legion on Victoria Street on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
