FIRE gutted a warehouse in Crewkerne this (Wednesday) evening as firefighters from Yeovil, Crewkerne, Street and Chard battled to control the blaze.
Following a call from a member of the public at around 6pm stating that smoke was coming from a derelict building just off North Street in Crewkerne, three appliances from Crewkerne and Yeovil were mobilised.
A command support unit from Street joined them and on arrival another fire engine from Chard was requested.
Crews gained entry to the building and started tackling the fire with hoses, but at around 7.45pm another appliance from Chard was called to the scene. A water carrier and incident support unit from Yeovil were also in attendance.
Western Power was called to isolate the electrics and by 9.30pm, the firefighters had the incident under control.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. For more information and images of the blaze, keep checking this website.
