THOUSANDS of spectators enjoyed a spectacular display at Saturday's Taunton Carnival.

People lined the streets in and around the town centre for the 90 minute procession headed by Miss Taunton, Lisa Treeby, and the Carnival Princess Jodie James.

Harlequins Carnival Club stole the show with their fantastic Lion King float, while New Beginnings won two local trophies.

Earlier in the day, it was the turn of the youngsters with the Children's Carnival.

Thousands of pounds were raised for charity - this year the event is supporting Musgrove Park League of Friends, head injury association Headway and children's leukaemia charity CLIC Sargent.
