Providing a chance to meet the artists and view the exhibition with complimentary refreshments.

Elsewhere is an exhibition featuring the quirky stylised linocut prints of Core Artist Gemma Trickey and the dramatic yet serene paintings of fellow Core Artist Olga Pietruszka.

Somerset County Gazette:

Both these artist’s works are enjoyed best up close and in person where you can allow their wonderful artworks to take you on a journey with timeless places and characters.

With recognisable yet differing styles, their pieces complement each other with both artists drawing upon themes that are slightly ethereal and otherworldly.

The work has an almost dreamlike quality that allows the viewer’s imagination to wander.

Gemma is a Somerset-based printmaker working mainly in linocut and woodcut on paper and textiles.

Somerset County Gazette:

Her work features wild and wonderful characters and creatures from folklore and fantasy, often relating to a timeless world of rituals and stories.

She is inspired by the work of William Morris and Aubrey Beardsley. Olga’s work is inspired by cloud formations, she incorporates these forms into her brooding landscapes, seascapes, cloudscapes, mountain views, and fjords.

Her pieces have a stillness to them whilst typically featuring a sky filled with foreboding.

Working predominantly in acrylics, Olga’s paintings have an expressive nature to them that evokes feeling and narrative.

Heart of The Tribe Gallery is open Thursday to Monday between 11am and 5pm with free admission.
