TAUNTON Brewhouse's summer season includes an outdoor theatre series, an action-packed family programme and stars of stage and screen.

From May to August, there are more than 70 events, including top comedians, acclaimed theatre shows, electrifying gigs, variety shows, art exhibitions, talks, cinema releases and creative workshops.

The venue is also continuing its commitment to supporting regional creatives with a selection of performances produced and performed by South West artists.

Castle Gardens is the setting for a hilarious version of Peter Pan on July 272, while on August 15 there is a double bill of Shakespeare with Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet transformed into outrageous comedies and performed by four actors.

Fans of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s heartwarming books won’t want to miss The Smeds and the Smoos and The Snail and the Whale.

From the producers of Dinosaur World Live comes a large-scale puppetry show, Dragons and Mythical Beasts. Other highlights include Horrible Histories, Fireman Sam and Judith Kerr’s Mog the Forgetful Cat.

Celebrity appearances include the chance to learn about surviving the great outdoors with Sir Ranulph Fiennes or Ray Mears, explore healthy eating, entertainment and business with Gregg Wallace, or find out more about the Rev Richard Coles’ new book A Death in the Parish.

Comedians heading to Taunton include Jasper Carrott, Scummy Mummies, Tim Key, Jo Caulfield and Gary Delaney. The popular Brewhaha Comedy Nights continue monthly.

Theatre shows include Tales from a Thousand and One Nights and comedies Sherlock’s Excellent Adventure and One Man and his Cow, as well as new plays created in the South West - Rosalie and Godot is a Woman.

For music lovers, there are regular gigs, with genres ranging from folk, rock and blues to jazz, classical and cabaret. Aida’s Liza Pulman sings the hits of Streisand in the touring version of her West End show. Grammy nominated alternative cabaret The Tiger Lillies will surprise, shock and entertain and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club will bring the spirit of London’s iconic venues to Taunton for one night. Then there's Country Superstars, ARRIVAL – The Hits of ABBA and Europhoria.
