WATCHET residents and visitors travelled back in time to the 1940s for a weekend filled with live music, vintage cars, and other activities and attractions.

The town was decorated for the occasion with bunting and flags, and there was entertainment on the Esplanade and station platform.

Shop owners and workers got into the spirit of the day by getting dressed up, while some pubs and restaurants put on special 1940s-inspired menus.

Before the Home Front event, a Love Watchet spokesperson said: “Dig out your 1940s dresses, suits and uniforms and get yourself ready to party here in Watchet.

“We don't expect perfection, but we do like you to join in! Ladies, dig out the tea dress you had for that wedding, you'll be glad you did!

“Gentlemen, pop on that shirt and those slacks you only ever wear at Christmas and you'll fit right in.”

Performers such as Luis Martelo, May Blossom, Tabitha, the Liberty Sisters, Watchet Town Band, and Watchet Community Choir entertained the crowds across both days.
