RECENT cases dealt with by Taunton Deane Magistrates' Courts include: Haydon Mark Baker, 22, of Eastwick Road, Taunton, damaged windows, doors and a phone, six months conditional discharge. (G).
Matthew Stephen Hughes, 19, of Roughmoor Crescent, Taunton, permitted someone to drive a car without the correct licence, no separate penalty; permitted someone else to use a car without insurance, £200 fine, £15 compensation, £60 costs, 60 days driving ban. (G).
Alan Robert Jones, 31, of South Street, Wellington, drink driving, £320 fine, £15 compensation, £60 costs, 12 months driving ban. (G).
David Charles Bennett, 20, of Deane Drive, Taunton, failed to stop after an accident, £100 fine, £15 compensation; failed to report an accident, £100 fine, £60 costs; driving without correct licence, no separate penalty; driving without insurance, £200 fine, 12 months driving ban. (G).
Matthew Dominic Foster, 28, of Eastcombe, using a handheld mobile phone while driving, £60 fine, £15 compensation, £60 costs, three points; failed to produce motor insurance certificate for examination by a police constable, absolute discharge. (G).
Luke Alan Statton, 18, of Albemarle Road, Taunton, failed to surrender to bail, £10 fine, £15 compensation; drunk and disorderly, six months conditional discharge; original offence of criminal damage, no action taken. (G).

Shield Environment Services Ltd, of Gyffarde Street, Taunton, exceeded the gross weight shown in a certificate on a vehicle, £3,000 fine, £15 compensation, £60 costs; failed to ensure an employee returned a record sheet within 21 days, £2,500 fine; three counts of failing to ensure that an employee returned a record sheet within 21 days, failed to ensure a vehicle displayed orange placards when it was carrying asbestos and contaminated cloths, no separate penalty; failed to ensure a vehicle carried emergency information about asbestos and contaminated cloths carried in it, £2,000 fine; used a goods vehicle without an operator's licence, £500 fine.
