Quality exhibits at Wellington Flower Show

The essence of the show was retained with classes for fruit, flowers, vegetables and pot plants, as well as classes for floral art and for children.

Despite fewer exhibits than normal, the hall at the ARC, Wellington School, was filled with spectacular blooms and mouth watering vegetables.

The floral art section was particularly well supported, perhaps as there was no flower arranging at the Taunton show. There were significantly more exhibits than in previous years and thanks went to Taunton Flower Club who again supported the event.

Congratulations to Jackie Crouch who swept the board and has supported the Wellington Flower Show for more years than any other exhibitor.

There were new exhibitors in both children and adult classes and Elodie Avery, who has not exhibited before, won the best exhibit cup for her miniature garden.

Visitor numbers were pleasing, given that it was a smaller show and there were no stalls or refreshments.

Entry to the show was free and visitors gave so generously in the donations jars.

The show generated no income this year so this was particularly pleasing as running costs still had to be met.

The judges were impressed by the high standard of the exhibits, particularly in floral art and the children’s classes.

A spring show is being planned for next year after a two-year break.
