RETIRED teacher Chris Dunne has published a children's novel based on stories told at South Petherton Junior School.
The book, titled Spike, is a science fiction fantasy featuring a hedgehog that is born with amazing qualities due to radioactive pollution from a nuclear recycling plant. Chris said: "Many of the ideas in the story were suggested by the children themselves and woven into an end of day story that evolved with each successive telling."
He promised the children that he would write the story in full one day and since he retired that promise has become a reality.
The book has been printed using Lulu, an American based on-line publishing company. Copies can be bought at N & D, South Petherton's stationers, or on-line at lulu.com.
