TAUNTON MP Jeremy Browne joined in with Occupational Therapy Week during a visit to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.
Mr Browne said: "Occupational Therapy Week was an opportunity to explain more about this vital service provided at Musgrove Park.
"The slogan for the week was 'Get going, get doing, get living'.
"The staff all have specialist skills which can help patients recover after surgery.
"I was impressed by the variety of services available at the hospital.
"There is a large gym and a rehabilitation pool.
"There are also many items of equipment which can help people with routine tasks like getting dressed and climbing out of bed.
"With an aging population there will be a growing need for occupational therapy.
"It is also vital for rehabilitating people who have been in serious accidents or suffered from a stroke.
"What is most important is to enable patients to have a decent quality of life after they have left hospital."
