SECRET World founder Pauline Kidner has hit out at badger culling calls after a top scientific advisor recommended the drastic action.
Government scientist Sir David King said last week that badgers should be slaughtered as humanely as possible in order to prevent spreading Bovine TB in cattle.
However East Huntspill wildlife sanctuary founder Pauline Kidner was outraged by the comments.
She said: "How can one scientist make an announcement that is said to overturn nine years and millions of pounds of research?"
Pauline is in favour of other forms of preventative measures, which she believes will eventually lead to improvements.
"The disease is a huge financial and emotional strain on the farming fraternity," she added. "But surely they must see that culling badgers is not ethical, cost effective or practical."
She now wants on the National Farmers Union to put an end to any suggestion of a cull.
"The NFU does not represent the vast majority of farmers who are happy to have healthy badgers on their land - perhaps if we introduced post testing of cattle we would resolve the problem quicker."
