AN 11-year-old from Taunton is completing the golf-equivalent of a marathon in order to raise money for charity.
Freddie Eglin set off on his challenge at 5am this morning at Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club (June 23).
He will be completing 72 holes of golf, - four rounds, which is the equivalent to walking a marathon.
The dedicated youngster hopes to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research - a charity close to his heart.
CHALLENGE: Freddie Eglin
He said: "I love golf, although I'm not sure I will at the end of the challenge.
"I tee off at 5am, to give me enough daylight hours to complete the challenge.
"After a family member was affected by this disease, I decided the least I could do is take a long walk whilst hitting a few golf balls and hopefully raise money for a great cause to help them continue their wonderful work.
"Every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer.
"Please donate whatever you can spare to help Cancer Research UK with their wonderful work."
Freddie has already smashed his £1,000 target, but hopes to keep the monument going.
