THE BrightHouse store in Taunton has been saved as the rent-to-own retailer closes 30 shops across the country.
In Somerset, the Yeovil store is among those closing, leading to a total of 350 job losses nationwide.
It is the latest high profile company suffering tough conditions on the high street and a clampdown on the amount of interest rent-to-own traders - when customers make monthly payments on household items - can charge.
A BrightHouse spokesman said: "We are working to redeploy as many people as possible into alternative roles but redundancies will be inevitable."
