A PERSON has sadly died after being hit by a train in Somerset.
Emergency services were called to West Huntspill at around 1pm today (January 17) to reports someone had been struck by a train.
Train services were delayed or cancelled between Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads while officers attended the scene.
It has been confirmed a person has died following the incident.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in West Huntspill at 1.01pm today following reports a person had been struck by a train.
"Paramedics also attended and sadly a person has been pronounced dead.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
The lines have been reopened following the tragic incident.
