NORTON Fitzwarren is to have a post office again - after an absence of well over a year.

The facility will open at Southern Co-op, at Norton Mills, in Morse Road, on Thursday, February 14, from 1pm.

The village has been without a post office since the previous branch closed in October 2017 when the store where it was located closed.

The new service will be sited at an existing counter in the Co-op, where customers will be able to buy their food while posting letters and other post office services or collecting online shopping items.

Mike Ball, Post Office multiples account executive, said: "We are looking forward to restoring Post Office services to Norton Fitzwarren as we understand and appreciate how much communities rely on our services."

Bev Wyatt, Southern Co-op’s Post Office relationship manager, said: "As a regional, independent co-operative, we wanted to give something back to our customers, so we are extremely pleased to be able to offer this service in store.

"The service will be available whenever we are open and we hope our customers will find it a positive step forward as they can now think about their posting needs whenever they pop in for their milk or other food essentials."

The post office will operate 105 hours a week from 7am to 10pm seven days a week.
