ONE of Taunton Deane's councillors has passed away.

Thomas Davies, a Conservative representative of the Pyrland and Rowbarton area of the Deane, died peacefully with his family in Musgrove Park Hospital at 91-years-old.

Leader of TDBC, John Williams, said Cllr Davies was a 'universally respected' member of the council.

He said: “It is with great sadness I have to notify you of the death of Councillor Tom Davies who passed away peacefully with his family around him at Musgrove Park Hospital.

"I believe I can say that Tom was universally liked and respected across the council; his wise counsel and wonderful wit will be sorely missed by all.

"I have sent condolences to Peggy, his wife, and all the family which was appreciated.

Alistair, Tom’s son, said being an elected member was a satisfying job for him.

He said: “Being a councillor gave dad great purpose and satisfaction, as well as a sense of camaraderie.”

Cllr Williams added: "I am sure you share with me a great sense of loss of a great man, he will be sadly missed by all."
