POLICE have cordoned off the stables where a mum was found murdered in Burtonwood again, more than a month after she was killed.

Forty-nine-year-old Ann Marie Pomphret was found dead on land off Old Alder Lane on the evening of Friday, November 2, having suffered serious head injuries.

The area has been cordoned off again this morning, Wednesday, with signage stating that Old Alder Lane is closed due to flooding.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a pool of water on the site being drained, with an Environment Agency van also present.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said that officers were on the scene ‘as part of the ongoing investigation’ into Ms Pomphret’s murder.

However, they could not confirm whether they were acting on new information received by the force.

Warrington Guardian:

The force had previously arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of murder, but he was later released on conditional bail.

Charity Crimestoppers has offered a £10,000 reward for information that could lead to the conviction of Ms Pomphret’s killer.

Detectives believe that members of the public who were in the area at the time of her death, including dog walkers and cyclists, may hold vital information.

“She loved nothing more than spending time with her family out in nature, looking after their horses.

“We are devastated that she has been taken from us so young and in such a senseless way.

“We ask that anyone who has any information no matter how small to inform the police as soon as possible.

“Marie will forever be in our hearts and we appreciate all of the well wishes that we’ve received, but ask that our privacy be respected during this very difficult time.”
