PRICES for the park and ride will increase by more than 60 per cent in the New Year.
The service was set to face the axe after Somerset County Council announced it would no longer subsidies it, but was given reprieve after Taunton Deane Borough Council offered to pick up the bill.
TDBC has joined the county council and bus operator Buses of Somerset in a 'partnership' which aims to keep the service going until at least September 2019 - with the ultimate goal of making it self-funding in the future.
But the Park and Ride's lifeline has come at a cost to users as some prices are set to jump to up by 66 per cent.

Those looking for a day pass, which would normally cost £2.40, will have to pay £4 to ride - or £3.50 if the ticket is purchased on the app First Bus MTickets.
A monthly pass, which previously cost £33, is jumping up to £60, or £55 on the app.
A group ticket will remain at £6, or £5 if paying on the app.
New bundles will be priced at £15 for five days of travel or £60 for 20 days.
