A PERSON has died after a lorry crashed with two pedestrians in Burnham-on-Sea.

Emergency services were called to Love Lane at around 4.30pm yesterday.

The crash involved a Royal Mail lorry and two pedestrians.

The other, a woman, sustained serious injuries in the incident and was taken to Southmead Hospital.

The road was closed until 11pm to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 50s sadly died at the scene.

A spokesman said: "Were you in Burnham-on-Sea yesterday afternoon?

Did you witness a red lorry collide with two pedestrians on Love Lane?

"One of the pedestrians tragically died at the scene and we're keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened."

A spokesman from Royal Mail said: "We are aware of the tragic events that occurred at Burnham on Sea on Friday evening.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those involved.

"While the matter is being investigated, we cannot comment any further."
