PEOPLE able to lend a hand during bad weather are being urged to come forward.

Wellington Town Council is updating its list of volunteers of people willing to help the community in the event of snowy or icy weather.

The council wants to ensure it is prepared for residents who might struggle with mobility or health issues and may require assistance.

Kathryn Hemensley, town clerk, said: "There’s no doubt that our local countryside look stunning when dressed up in a sprinkling of clear white snow. But for some, severe weather conditions can pose real problems, with slippery pavements and roads making it difficult to get out for essential supplies.

"All offers of help will be greatly appreciated and if you feel you can lend a hand."

Volunteers will help shovel driveways, clear pathways or help run errands.

Anyone interest in applying can contact the town council office.
