A MAN has been arrested in relation to a serious sexual assault on a woman in Newport city centre.
Gwent Police believe the offence happened sometime between 3.30am and 4am on Sunday morning in the entrance of a locked car park off Queensway.
The assault happened in a disused area that once provided parking access to the left of the Admiral Building, when facing it, between the junctions for Cambrian Road and Station Street.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said: "A 34-year-old man from the Crosskeys area has been arrested in relation to reports of a serious sexual assault in the Queensway area of Newport, which took place between 3.30am and 4am on Sunday October 21, 2018.
"The incident happened in a recess at the entrance to a locked car park off Queensway, between the junctions for Cambrian Road and Station Street, to the left of the Admiral Building.
"The victim, a woman in her 30s, continues to be supported by specialist officers.
