MANOR Court Primary School has unveiled its 2018 elected school councillors.

All pupils from Year 1 through to Year 6 took part in the school council elections at the school in Chard.

Candidates were asked to compose a meaningful and detailed manifesto, which was then delivered to their individual year group classes.

Nine Year 6 pupils also took to the floor in front of 250 pupils to deliver their manifestos for School Council chairman.

It was then handed to the pupils to vote for their chosen chairman.

Isabelle Spicer, who was elected into the role, said: “I’m excited and very pleased that my school friends voted for me.

“I didn’t think I would get it. I would like to thank my school for giving me this opportunity.”

The mayor of Chard, Cllr Garry Shortland, was also on hand on Friday, October 5, to present the newly elected School Council with a badge of honour and certificates of achievement.

Each year the School Council within Manor Court works to raise as much money as they can for a chosen charity.

This year they will be raising funds for When You Wish Upon A Star.

It is a UK based charity founded in 1990, which endeavours to grant the wishes of children living with a life threatening illness.
