A PUB just a six-hit from Somerset County Cricket Club's home ground is launching its own beer - but you'll have to be as quick as a Jamie Overton bouncer to get a taste of it.

Customers at The Ring of Bells, in St James Street, Taunton, will be able to sup a pint or two of Long Hop during a three-day beer festival next month.

(For the uninitiated, a long hop is a cricketing term for a short, slow ball bowled to the batsman).

General manager Andi Sheehan regular pub customer Martin Huggins were whisked up to Tommy Taylor's brewery in Keighley, in Yorkshire, to check out the production of the 'Ringer's' very own brew.

It was only the second time Tommy Taylor's had come up with a beer specifically for a special occasion - the previous was Le Champion, to celebrate the Tour de France cycling through Yorkshire.

To get a taste of Long Hop or any of a total of 15 local and nationwide ales, drop by the Ring of Bells' beer ale festival from Friday to Sunday, November 16 to 18

The pub came third in this year's CAMRA South West Pub of the Year.
